Myth #1: Acne only affects appearance
It has been studied that acne will cause deep psychological

Myth #2: Acne is caused by poor hygiene
Although skin infections are related to acne, lack of
cleanliness by itself is not a reason to create acne
breakouts. The
real acne infection, which is oil and dead cells, is located

cleaning, gently cleans with soap and water once or twice daily
will keep your skin healthier. If you scrub too hard it can
worsen acne.
Myth #3: Acne is caused by specific foods
For a long time, chocolate has gathered a reputation for
causing pimples, but scientific evidence has proven this to be
untrue. The same
applies with potato chips and sugar. Some foods, however, have
been found to aggravate (not cause) the
condition.
These foods include milk and foods high in iodine, like
seafood.
Myth #4: Acne has to run its course
You should not wait for acne to cure on its own because it
could get much worse. Today there are a great
variety of acne treatments available both over the counter and

Myth #5: The more acne medicine the better
Many people believe they have to use more medicine as their
acne gets worse.

Myth #6: Sunbathing is good for acne
Exposure to the sun dries out excess oils, so for this reason

the chances of developing skin cancer.
Myth #7: Makeup causes acne
Some makeup products can cause your pores to clog, which will

labeled “noncomedogenic” or “nonacnegenic”, which are safe to
use. Some makeup
brands even have ingredients that can actually treat
acne.
Myth #8: Acne is only a teenage condition
While the majority of teens develop acne, many adults are also
affected. Usually,
acne clears up by the early 20s, but some individuals will
experience acne for the first time as late as their
40s. Other
unfortunate people might even endure acne flare-ups for their
entire lives.
Myth #9: Acne is related to sex
You’ve probably heard many times before that either celibacy or
too much sex can cause pimples. There is no evidence for
this. While there
is a relationship between sexual activity and hormone
production, there is no scientific proof that connects sex and
the production of sebum (the oily substance that combines with
dead skin cells to cause acne). Stress and anger can also
affect your hormone levels.

them.
Popping a pimple is not a good idea because it may worsen acne
by spreading the bacteria that causes it. Popping can also lead to
