Types Of
Severe Acne
Acne Vulgaris
We all know of the common acne that is called acne
vulgaris. But
there are several types of severe acne that have different
names. Even though
there are treatments for severe acne, these acne types are more
difficult to treat than others. The reason for this is
because they usually cause more damage to a person, like mental
agony and skin scars. Let’s find out about the
severe forms of acne.
Acne Conglobata
If acne vulgaris unexpectedly flares up and rather than
settling down it begins creating more inflammation and modules
with deep cysts that infect the deep insides, then it is called
Acne Conglobata.
You will see many body parts full of blackheads in this area
and a nodule with surrounding comdones. The nodules get infected, and
after treatment leave scars. This type of acne can’t be
treated with OTC medication. You should consult a doctor
to get it treated.
Acne Fulminans
This acne type is normally the result of untreated acne
conglobata. Acne
fulminans causes fever and forms deeper
abscesses.
Steroids and other anti-inflammatory agents may be
required to treat this condition.
Gram Negative Folliculitis
Gram Negative Folliculitis is not acne, but it is an
inflammation of the hair follicle. It will cause pustules around
the hair follicle and can even develop boils around
them. This type of
severe acne is treated with antibiotics. Isotretinoin is normally used
for all severe forms of acne with other
medications.
You should see your doctor so that he/she can diagnose the type
of acne you have. Then you will be able to get the most
adequate treatment for you.
